A blighted ovum is a type of pregnancy loss which happens in very early pregnancy. Your midwife or doctor might also refer to it as an anembryonic pregnancy, but it is more likely they will call it a silent or missed miscarriage.
After conception, the fertilised egg (ovum) implants in your uterus (womb), but for some reason a baby does not develop. It can happen to anyone. It usually happens accidentally, and most women go on to have a successful pregnancy next time.
You may feel your pregnancy is progressing normally, because you have not felt any pain or experienced bleeding. Your body may still be giving you all the signals that you are pregnant, although if your hormone levels are falling, those signs may lessen slightly. Your breasts may feel less tender, for example.
Often, the first time you are aware anything is wrong is when you have your first ultrasound scan and are told that the pregnancy sac which would normally contain an embryo is empty.
If, like most women in this situation, you had no idea that your pregnancy wasn't progressing well until your scan, the news will have come as a great shock. It can be hard to understand or accept, and you will need time to come to terms with it.
Why does a blighted ovum develop?
We don't fully understand why a blighted ovum happens, but it's thought to be an accident of nature. When an egg is fertilised by a sperm, the cells begin dividing. Some cells develop into the embryo, and others develop into the placenta and membranes.
Sometimes, the cells that would have become the embryo fail (probably because a mistake happened during fertilisation, and there are too many or too few chromosomes), but the cells that become the placenta and membranes keep developing, so the pregnancy sac continues to grow inside the uterus and the placenta starts to form.
Your body doesn’t recognise that there is no baby developing inside the sac, because pregnancy hormones are still being produced which prevent a miscarriage.
During your scan, if the pregnancy sac measures more than 20mm, with no sign of an embryo, then your sonographer can make a diagnosis of a missed or silent miscarriage. The entire amniotic sac must be checked using vaginal ultrasound before the diagnosis can be confirmed. If the diameter is less than 20mm, the pregnancy may just be less advanced than you thought, and you will probably have another scan between seven and 14 days later. If there is still no sign of an embryo after this time, the diagnosis can be confirmed.
What will happen after the diagnosis?
You will be given plenty of support as you decide what to do next, and you certainly won’t have to do anything straight away.
It's safe to wait to miscarry naturally when the pregnancy hormones eventually fall, but this can take many weeks. If you have had some bleeding or brown loss, it may be worth waiting to see if nature will take care of things.
Many women, though, prefer to have a minor operation called an ERPC (evacuation of retained products of conception), which can be carried out as a day procedure, or a medical induction of miscarriage.
When will my body get back to normal?
Once the miscarriage happens, your periods will start again. You might want to wait a couple of months just to give your body a rest, and to feel emotionally ready, before trying again for a baby.
You will naturally be very anxious that you may have a miscarriage again. However, most women go on to have a successful pregnancy the next time and an early scan may be recommended to reassure you. Once a heartbeat has been seen, the pregnancy is said to be viable and the chance of a successful outcome is much better.
But remember, wait until you are more than six weeks pregnant, or better still, more than seven or eight weeks pregnant, if you want to avoid the uncertainty that very early scans may bring.

it certainly exists; I've seen it. And sometimes, there is no obvious motive for it.
However, fairly recent studies have suggested that there is, in fact, a biological, evolutionary basis for altruism, and that raises the philosophical question: when can altruism be called "true" altruism and not simply an instinct intended to maximize the chances of group or even individual survival?
If you help a brother, that brother may help you (aside from whatever longtime family guilt-tripping might have motivated you to help, whether you really wanted to or not); and if you help members of your tribe to survive, then there will more people available to assist you if you need assistance, and those tribe members will help you for exactly the same reason.
You see the complications. What we need to do is define "altruism" as something that involves no hope of future gain or help; but even then, we have to decide whether the mere personal satisfaction of giving assistance has some benefit or gain for those provide that assistance.
And that is a quite complicated question, too, given the wide differences between individuals, their circumstances, and their personalities and motives. This is an area in which science is at sea and in which psychology shows itself to be the very INexact "science" it has always been.

I wouldn't want to be rude or annoying because sometimes they don't try to be a bad roommate. The key to everything is communication. Tell them, I don't appreciate you throwing all your stuff on my side of the room or you turning the lights off when I'm still there. If that doesn't work you can try to get a new roommate or move out. With siblings, you can ask your parents for a separate room. That way, you can have neither person enter the others' room without permission. It's all about respect. If you treat them well, then they have to listen, they can't just say that's not true because all you do is lay around all day watching tv if you make them pancakes for breakfast. They have to address an issue if it's bothering you. If they start to laugh cuz they think you're joking wait for them to finish and tell them: I'm sorry being your roommate hasn't helped me at all because it's really annoying how you ______. I treat you with respect and I ask the same back. Then hopefully, your relationship will get better and neither one of you will have problems. It's not necessarily about getting rid of a bad roommate, you can't force anyone out unless you fully pay for their rent, but you can move out and there's other solutions to fix the problem and still keep your friendship.

I have permanent dark circles under my eyes, but they have been getting worse recently due to not sleeping properly. Anybody actually tried the whole cucumber thing and does it work? If not, what else could I do? Thanks :)

First you should know the cause of dark circles under eyes. Absence of vitamins in your diet, lack of sleep and lots of stress.
You should take complete sound sleep.
Drink plenty of water.
Include green leafy vegetables in your diet. Eat carrot as you can.
Yoga and meditation removes stress. Make a habit of yoga.
Avoid use of alcohol. Say 'NO' to smoke.
Let down above points in your life, and see the results.

A headache can vary in intensity & location in the head - temple, front, back.
A migraine is usually one whole side of the head (half head), is intense, can include nausea, visual disturbances (blurry vision or dancing specks), intolerance to bright light or noise (even knitting needles clacking). They can last several days (3-5).
There are also cluster headaches which is a migraine on both sides of the head.

I believe having travelled with them my self that it has to be virgin atlantic because they have great easy check ins with friendly and helpful staff that when you tell them it is your birthday the give you free champagne!!!!
there first class is out of this world when your on a long hall flight you need comfort, class and style and virgin has it with bells on!!! the foood is out standing none of the rubbish that is given on any other flights even on a standard flight still great service and food. so if you want class style and comfort then travel virgin atlantic xx

I think rani mukherjee is so pretty but people don't like her because she has a very husky voice. I personally love her voice because it makes her different from the others.

in it's most basic form, AE is for using layers stacked to creat VFX and advanced editing
Premiere is for splicing together different clips, and can still use effects such as motion tracking, keying, and motion blur.it has effectively the same purpose as Sony Vegas Pro or Final Cut Pro, except it integrates into most adobe products

I have a sky box and sometimes when i try the volume button on it, it doesnt work, is there a way to reset the settings so i dont have to keep using the Tv remote as opposed to the Sky Remote Control?
