welcome to the community, being brown in skin colour simply means we have more of a chemical called malanin which is what makes our skin darker and less likely to burn, its our bodies way of protecting it from burns and diseases.

Why are you brown - everyone has there own skin tone some are white some are brown some are black some are medium some are even pale

If most members in your family generation are your skin tone, you are most likely to be that skin tone. Also some people produce alot of melanine which makes them dark, this can be prevented through creams and physical operations.
