Question:

Do you think under 18s are too young to participate in a study concerning body image satisfaction?

Asked in Psychology  |  180 days ago

I need to start my data collection for my University dissertation soon, but trying to decide whether I should leave it open for under 18's too or just those over 18.

Allowing participants that are under 18 to take part means having to justify my reasons for doing this, and since it would not be practical to get parental consent, I have to justify that too.

Do you think that under 18s are exposed to issues related to body image in the media, through peers etc everyday anyway so to include them in my study would be okay? Does that seem like a reasonable justification? Do magazines/TV shows etc aimed at under 18s promote body image issues?

Thanks in advance Yabbers - as always your help is greatly appreciated :)
