    Here is a sample....
John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" is focused around the theme of how two men have come together and are such good friends in a time when most people had nothing. They have each other and even though they may not always get along they have learned to accept the differences and stick together, because in the end all they have is each other, which is what separates them from everyone else.
George and Lennie are two very different men both mentally and physically. In spite of their differences they still manage to be the best of friends, work together, and travel together. The reason being is because their differences is what makes them so close.

  3. George and Lennie have an unusual freindship, they stick together, but in the time that its set in where the wall street crash happened and men were scattered everywhere looking for work - george and lennies freindship was the oddesst of relationships, it wasnt normal to see two guys sticking with each other like best friends while they went on the search for jobs.

Other guys at the ranch always questioned their relationship, especially after realising lennie is retarded they questioned George even more, why did he look after Lennie in such a way? The theme friendship in Johns novel is used in a very abstract way.

the whole book shows us different types of freindship and relationships. It opens your mind to all the different types etc. I havent done this in more than 3 years, I faintly remember the Of Mice and Men book, but i hope this helps :)
