Tags: How does the reality of life in a developing city compare with what rural migrants expect to find
Hey there Aymoon,
Lovely to see you back here again and i love your Dp, you look ever so lovely there. =)
Onto your question, that is an interesting question but i would say to use the example and concept of the 'All American Dream'
This is the idea of poeple coming from other lesser developing countries to live that dream that they have heard all about. People picture that perfect american life where theres a lovely house, with a white picket fence, a back yard and a lovely tyre swing on the tree etc, the media and movies, tv shows portray such a life as that and gives those migrants an image to look forward to.
That kind of concept is pretty much the same thing you would find with rural migrants coming into such a developing country for example, england, america etc.
Such high expectations built from watching the media and hearing from others proves to become a dissapointment to the migrants when they are let down immensly.
Hard work, terrible economy in these times, barely any jobs, Vat, mortgages, house prices, petrol, insurance for a million things are all part of a your life once you are iin a developing country, something a rural migrant did not have to worry about in their country.
There are so many differences and comparisons and even language barriers and discrimination can be discussed here. Life in a developing city is just as different compared to life in the country side.
House prices are cheaper and people tend to be frendlier, and the community is more close knit and quiet in the country side.
The rural migrants will find that the deeper they go into the city the more people are consumed within themselves and are so busy and working extra hard and everything being ten times more expensve compared to the rural areas of england.
However what they would expect is for there to be plentiful jobs to go around as theres not much job prospects from where they are from, more noisy as they would have this typical city life image in their head where theres cars everywhere and dirt and so on and so forth. Its the city stereotype they may have and this all really depends on what the rural migrants have been exposed to before going into the city.
Im proper rambling here about lord know what but i hope there are a couple points there you could find useful.
I hope i have helped and as always be sure to keep yabbing =)
Basically rural migrants have this massive dream of a better life when actually they come to find that its a load of poop and its a tough country to live to keep up with.
they think london and that are amazingly posh, and everyone has a fancy lifestyle but once these freshies come, they realise its average sized housing with not so amazing cars and that you have to work like a cow to get far in life.
LOL i think they expect a whole new picture and this is all the doing of hollywood
they think were celebs living in a fantasty world!! and then there eyes open when they realise where human just like them lols
They expect, more jobs, money, income, food, but really theres NO jobs, money OR even food! ;o
They think london is so cool and fun but it isnt.
