   I think you should not tell any exact figure but tell them a range.
   
   I would like to start with an handsome amount of salary that i can use to support my family. I would say 25k to 35k p.a

   Hmm well depends, at the moment I do not require to earn as such. But I would like my starting salary at 25k and obviously with experience and depending on the field you're in it goes up gradually. =)
