Is it illegal if a parents gives there child alcohol and they are below the age limit to drink?

   My nephew drinks, very little amounts though really depends which country some countries allow alcohol for all ages others dont

   i remember a while back that parents are allowed to give their children to drink as long as they are given in private in the home or something.
