Why is dubai becoming increasingly more popular and becoming the centre of attraction when 5-10years ago it was NOTHING?

I need this for my homework, its true though they were nothing years ago all of a sudden "honeymoon" let's go dubai "holidays" let's go dubai loool eveything is revolving around dubai due to how rich they've made this place look many attractions but why dubai why not spain or barca

    Dubai is having investment coming into there economy rich arabians are investing; all there money into properties building useless things such as "HOTELCOPTER" you see a flying hotel something nobody has done it makes people like us WOW that's why we end up there :P
